How to Buy a Ring

Once an order is placed, it generally takes 3-6 weeks to be completed depending on the design and materials used. If you need something in a hurry, we can almost always accommodate, just get in touch via email:

Our sterling rings range in price from US$140-US$195 depending on the width of the ring. Titanium rings range in price from US$225-US$275 depending on the width. Gold/Palladium/Platinum rings are quoted on an individual basis, but for bands 6mm and wider, you can expect prices to start at US$495 and go up from there.

Adding gemstones (up to 1.5mm in size) to rings costs US$50 per stone, no matter the stone. Larger stones will be quoted on an individual basis. For more info about stones, check out this blog post.

We want you to love your piece and for it to be comfortable to wear everyday! If it is not, we’ll refund (minus postage) or replace upon receipt of the original item in an unworn condition. Returns must be made within 60 days.

Please get in touch for information on how to return your item.

The first re-size for silver and gold is free but subsequent resizes will be charged for. Anything that’s our fault of course we will fix free of charge.

Titanium cannot be resized so it is very important to get the size right first time. If the size needs to be adjusted any more than 1/4 of a size up a new ring will need to be purchased. Check out this blog post for more information about titanium.

Rings with stones or other custom work are more difficult to resize and might take extra time.

General maintenance including cleaning, re-etching and blackening we are happy to do for the cost of postage only. For matte finished pieces (all of our jewelry is finished this way unless you specify high polish), you can often fix surface scratches and bring the piece back to it's original finish with a Scotchbrite or 3M green scratchy pad. Use small circular motions, mind to not take the colour out of the etchings and take care near any stones.

The only truly accurate way to get your finger size is to try on a band that is the same width as the band you would like to purchase. So, if you're interested in an 8mm band, find an 8mm band that fits your finger and have that ring measured for size (to the edge of the ring, not the middle). For an in depth look into the tricky game of finger sizing check out our post here.

For a wrist size, a piece of string wrapped around your wrist then measured should do the trick.

Our “etchings” or more accurately, engravings, are carved by hand with a small graver. With time the colour in the etchings can wear away but we can re-blacken the image any time for the cost of postage only.

We have three levels of custom design. To get the process started check out our custom design options.

We work in recycled sterling silver, brass, titanium, Ethically sourced alluvial New Zealand gold - all colours, our own super ethical beach gold, palladium and platinum. Have no idea what to pick? Ash explains it all here.

We finish all our work matte but no matter how it starts out, jewellery seems to find its own degree of polish as it’s worn - matte pieces become more shiny and shiny pieces become more matte.

To maintain the matte finish we suggest using a green 3M scratchy pad to take off any polish on the surface.

If a satin or polished finish is preferred, let us know.

High Polish

We can incorporate both metal and stones from old or heirloom jewellery into your new piece. Although it doesn't make a huge difference to the price you will pay, the sentimental and environmental reasons are certainly worth it.

The way we price this work is, we first work out how much the item would be if we were supplying all the materials, then how much the value of the material supplied by you is, and subtract that amount. Effectively, we buy the metal or stones from you rather than a metal supplier. For more information about this process check out our full customisation form.

We offer six engraving styles on the inside of rings and hand engraving on all other items.  $30 per item.  We can engrave about 30 characters on rings 2mm and wider.  This depends a lot on the individual piece of jewellery so if you have something specific in mind, let us know.  Below is an example of our ring engraving styles on 6mm wide bands as well as Ash’s hand engraving on a 20mm cuff.

Stones up to about 2mm in diameter will usually fit flush set in a 1.2mm thick ring but larger stones will most likely need a different approach. For more info about stones, check out this blog post.

We use minimal packaging. Recycled kraft boxes and scraps of beautiful fabric donated to us by Pip at Empire Eco Designs.

Orders over US$1000 are packaged in a handmade wooden ring box.

These wooden boxes are also available to purchase:

Single ring or earring box US$35

Double ring or cufflinks box US$40

Large pendant box US$45

If purchasing from outside New Zealand you may be charged import duties by your country's customs department. In our experience it's most likely you won't be charged at all but sometimes it does happen and unfortunately it's something we have no control over.

In the UK and some other European countries, this can be around 20% of the cost of your purchase.

In the USA and most of the world this only applies to orders over $1000 and can be around 5% of the cost of your purchase.
